Rope Crafts for the Home

I feel like getting my craft on, and the three-day weekend allows ample time for starting, and maybe even completing (gasp!), a few easy projects. I've noticed several rope crafts in my World Wide Web travels, and not only do they produce nice nautical decorative objects, but they look easy enough to tackle in a weekend.

Braided Rope Mat - This one looks a little challenging, but Martha Stewart's meticulous instructions will guide the way.

Rope-Trimmed Pillows - I love this idea from Woman's Day. It's cute, nautical and requires just a glue gun and very minimal sewing.

Coiled Rope Basket - I can never get enough baskets, and this DIY rope basket from Under the Table and Dreaming is especially beautiful and unique.

Rope Framed Mirror - I've shown this Martha Stewart craft before, but I love how it's simple yet really makes a strong statement.

Monkey Fist Doorstop - Now, if you're really feeling ambitious, there's a great tutorial from Design Sponge for making one of those great nautical knot doorstops. It'll take some time and patience, but the video links and helpful tips will help you along the way.

Enjoy, and I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
